Change to the Pennsylvania PDMP Data Collection Frequency (1/1/2017)
On January 1, 2017, the data collection frequency for the PA PDMP system (PMP AWARxE) that is facilitated via PMP Clearinghouse changed from within 72 hours to
no later than the close of the subsequent business day of dispensing the controlled substances. A business day is any day within the standard five day business week beginning on Monday and ending on Friday. Note: The PMP Clearinghouse can accept dispensation data every day, including weekends.
For example: If your pharmacy is open and dispensing controlled substances from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., then information from all dispensations that occurred on Monday must be submitted to PMP Clearinghouse by the close of the subsequent business day, i.e., by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. And information from all dispensations that occurred on Friday must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on the following Monday. If your pharmacy is closed on Thursday, you must still submit Wednesday's data by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Version 4.0 of the
Data Submission Dispenser Guide (PDF) reflects this change.
